The 60-seat Sugo Pasta Kitchen will open in summer 2018 within Sawmill Court and is Manchester’s first southern Italian pasta kitchen, and building on the success of Sugo in Altrincham.

Hip Hop Chip Shop, which previously ran a unit within Allied London’s Kitchens and has a popular mobile van, will be making Sawmill Court its first permanent restaurant in summer 2018.

Marty Edelman, executive chairman of Manchester Life Development Company, said: “We care deeply about Ancoats and ensuring that we play our part in helping to build and grow the vibrant and thriving community. For that reason, we have worked hard to ensure our commercial tenants reflect and enhance the unique character of Ancoats and Manchester.

“Jane Eyre, Sugo Pasta Kitchen and Hip Hop Chip Shop are energetic Manchester-born businesses and they bring exactly the right offering and enthusiasm to the neighbourhood, and we can’t wait for them to open. We will soon reveal the other exciting bars, restaurants, and retailers who will be joining them in our Ancoats and New Islington developments.”

Care deeply about ancoats. Mmmmm
I would have said focus was on money given the bland out of place building going up in the square. Not spoke to a single resident that can say anything positive about it and how it will ruin the aesthetic of the area

It obviously wont ‘ruin the aesthetics of the area’. Its actually very decent. Clearly, an aberration for a Mcr Life scheme.

They have to be careful that they don’t over egg the pudding here, which could turn this into an extension of the Northern Quarter. There is a theatre in An coats, which makes it more of a community, but very few shops.I hope that they do not saturate the place with overpriced boozers and glorified take aways.A market it in the square would be a good addition.
