Icon names contractor to build Airport City shed

Icon Industrial, a joint venture between industrial and office developer Stoford and US investor TPG Real Estate, is preparing to start building a 375,000 sq ft warehouse at Manchester Airport.

Icon won consent in January for the unit at the World Logistics Hub.

The 375,000 sq ft warehouse includes an adjoining 19,000 sq ft, three-storey office block and a separate 4,000 sq ft, two-storey office.

Winvic is lined up to build the unit on Sunbank Lane and has submitted a construction method statement to Manchester City Council, while planner Avison Young is discharging planning conditions in order to enable a start on site.

The warehouse will sit on an 18 acre-plot within the 45-acre Icon development between the M56 and the A538 Wilmslow Road.

The contractor is already working nearby building the first phase of The Hut Group’s £150m logistics park.

The architect is Webb Gray and Avison Young is the planning consultant. Icon’s retained agents are CBRE, JLL, and DTRE.
