TfGM lists first 14 rail stations to join Bee Network

Travellers will be able to tap in and out of stations between Manchester Piccadilly, Glossop, and Hadfield this December, alongside the launch of a daily multimodal tram, train, and bus ticket.

Bringing 14 rail stations into the Bee Network is just one part of Transport for Greater Manchester’s wider ambitions for its expansion into rail.

Another 15 stations are set to join the network in March 2027, including Manchester Victoria, Stalybridge, Strines, and Rose Hill. You can find the full list of stations at the bottom of this article.

TfGM has provided the rail strategy update to Greater Manchester Combined Authority ahead next week’s Bee Network committee meeting.

Stations that are integrated into the Bee Network will receive a series of benefits, including investment in their infrastructure to ensure step-free access, improved wayfinding, clearer signage, upgrade information screens, and enhanced CCTV.

They will also have their information brought into the Bee Network app and website.

Perhaps the most significant change will be the introduction of tap in and tap out payment services, which will automatically calculate the best value ticket for the traveller’s journey.

TfGM has also embedded members of its team into Network Rail, Great British Railways, and the train operators for those stations, to help improve the reliability of the network.

Starting in December 2027, Northern trains will have more evening and weekend services on its services that stop at Manchester Airport, Alderley Edge, and Rochdale.

The follow year will see the introduction of a weekly multimodal bus, tram, and rail pass, according to the committee report.
