RPs on alert for Fleetwood opportunity
Wyre Council is seeking to appoint a housing association to deliver an apartment scheme off Adelaide Road next to the town’s indoor market.
The Fleetwood plot has been vacant for more than 15 years and was previously used as a car park. It is currently surrounded by hoardings.
The site has long been the subject of redevelopment aspirations and has planning consent for a four-storey apartment building featuring 18 flats.
Permission for that scheme was granted in 2004 and it is almost certain that a refreshed scheme will need to be put to Wyre Council, given the amount of time that has passed since North Antrim Construction was granted permission.
Wyre Council is seeking expressions of interest from registered providers who might like to take on the scheme.
The development should “complement…Fleetwood Market, and be designed in harmony with the character and appearance of the conservation area”, according to tender documents.
