Hynes to head up Silk Street panel
Cheshire East Council has appointed Nick Hynes, head of sales and leasing at Manchester Airports Group and former managing director of Magnus, to lead an advisory panel to review and progress the redevelopment of Macclesfield town centre.
Hynes spent 26 years as owner and managing director of Macclesfield-based property company Magnus before leaving to set up his own consultancy earlier this year. He joined MAG in February to advise on sales and leasing.
In his role as delivery executive and chair of the Macclesfield Design Board, he will help the council review its options for taking the £90m Silk Street scheme forward after anchor Debenhams' decision to pull out earlier this month. The board will have a broad advisory remit.
Hynes will lead a panel of local elected members, key stakeholders and council officers, including a newly-appointed director of projects and professional advisers. The role part-time and is in addition to his position at MAG.
Cllr Michael Jones, leader of Cheshire East Council said: "Nick, who was born and bred in Macclesfield and knows and loves the town as much as we do, is totally committed to making things happen so that we create a town centre fit for the 21st century.
"I have given Nick the remit to listen. We want him to get this right and make sure we listen to all opinions on the development and investment in Macclesfield town centre."
