Home Bargains opens £4m East Lancs outlet

The 32,000 sq ft store at the Peel Centre in Hyndburn joins the national discount retailer’s 500-plus outlet empire. Home Bargains shows no signs of slowing down, adding approximately 50 stores a year.

The store opened on Saturday, with the national discount store creating 97 new jobs in the area. One of the company’s bigger stores, it will also boast a cafe and bakery.

Home Bargains will also be one of the largest tenants at the Peel Centre, which is located just east of Blackburn on Whitebirk Drive in Hyndburn. It takes over a long-empty space that once held an MFI store. Other tenants at the Peel Centre include B&M, PC World and Currys.

Leasing agents for the centre, owned by Peel L&P, are Savills and Curson Sowerby Partners. Home Bargains’ acquisition agent is Bennett Real Estate Consultancy in Liverpool.

To celebrate the store’s grand opening, Home Bargains will donate £2,000 to children’s cancer charity Milly’s Smiles.

Home Bargains got its start in Liverpool back in 1976 and has since become one of the largest privately-owned companies in the country.
