Holt returns to Venmore Auctions

Cathy Holt’s career has come full circle as she rejoins the Liverpool auction house as a senior auction valuer after nearly 20 years at Sutton Kersh.

Holt got her start at Venmore Auctions, working her way up to the position of manageress. She left in 2008 to the Venmore rival to become an associate director.

She said changes in the leadership at Sutton Kersh had led to her departure.

“The last eight years the structure changed to become less personal with decisions being made by head office, which didn’t always reflect the local market conditions,” Holt explained.

“I was starting to lose the passion that I always had for the industry and decided to change course and return to where it all began.”

Paul Lea, chairman of Venmore Auctions’ parent company, welcomed Holt’s homecoming.

“It’s an absolute privilege to have Cathy back with us after all these years,” he said.

“I’ve known Cathy for around 35 years and she is without question the leading auction agent in the North West. Her highly respected reputation, experience, and very loyal following of buyers and vendors will help us achieve our goal of continued growth.”

Lea continued: “She demands the very best from her team and the team have welcomed Cathy with open arms and they are so excited that she will be leading them from the front.”

Holt is already hard at work, readying for the firm’s final online auction of the year, which will be held on 9 December.

Venmore Auctions was established in Liverpool in 1849 and is part of the Venmore Group. Other members of the group include estate agencies Bradshaw Farnham & Lea and Ball & Percival, as well as mortgage broker Rightclick Finance.
