HBV delivers Barrow care project
Altrincham developer HBV has opened its latest project, a £3m specialist supported living development for disabled adults in Barrow-in-Furness.
Sixteen apartments and two bungalows incorporating assistive technology have been built at Church Place, built on a former church site on Roose Road in Barrow for local people with physical or learning disabilities.
Local MP John Woodcock officially opened the scheme. He said: “This is a remarkable addition to our local community and I’m delighted that the apartments and the assistive technology within them creates the opportunity for people with various kinds of disabilities to live a more independent life.”
Alastair Sheehan, business development director at HBV said: “I’m delighted to welcome new residents to this important development in the community. There’s clearly a need for more of these kind of developments where vulnerable people are given the opportunity to live more independently from their parents or in supported accommodation.
“We are delighted that this site in Barrow provides a fine example of the specialist supported living model and provides a modern and safe environment for people to live their lives independently and with the freedom to manage their own homes, in the manner and dignity that they and all of us deserve.”
HB Villages was formed in May 2011 to deliver a pipeline of new-build specialist supported housing accommodation throughout the UK. The business works in partnership with local adult social care commissioners, care providers and registered providers of social housing.
