Halton picks Mott, IBI for Runcorn vision

Halton Council has commissioned a team made up of architect and urban designer, IBI Group and engineer, Mott MacDonald along with property consultant BE Group to develop a masterplan for West Runcorn.

The report is partly funded by the Liverpool Local Enterprise Partnership and European Regional Development Fund.

Mark Graham, studio associate at IBI Group, said: “The strategic masterplan marks the start of a process of regeneration and expansion of Runcorn and the wider Halton area, which will seek to make the most of the town’s waterfront. The exceptional setting provides opportunities for significant industrial, innovation and placemaking in what is one of the North West’s most productive locations.”

IBI and the team will produce a masterplan and transport strategy to develop a vision for West Runcorn and key areas including Port Runcorn, Inovyn and Eastern Point, Ashville.

The masterplan will identify development sites to focus regeneration of Runcorn, tapping into the local science business base and waterfront connections with the town centre.
