Fortis starts at Bridgewater Wharf
Beaumont Morgan, the company’s construction arm, has started work on Fortis Group’s £72m Salford development, Bridgewater Wharf.
Situated on Ordsall Lane, the eight-storey PRS scheme comprises 376 homes, including studios, apartments, three-bedroom townhouses and three and four-bedroom duplexes. Completion is expected in the first quarter of 2020.
Amenities include secure cycle storage, a communal residents’ lounge and gym, with electric vehicle charging points included in the parking area.
The project team includes architect Darnton B3, Lambert Smith Hampton on planning, structural engineer Scott Hughes Design and building services consultant Mullins Associates Off-plan sales to buy-to-let investors are being managed by Knight Knox.
Fortis has a Salford pipeline of more than 1,900 homes across five developments, including Adelphi Wharf and the 27-storey Fortis Quay. Adephi Wharf’s first three phases, delivered between late 2018 and 2019, will see just short of 600 homes delivered. The company is also delivering a scheme for Delph Property Group in Manchester’s Green Quarter.
Kieran Moore, director at Fortis Group, said: “Salford is highly sought-after by young professionals looking to live in close proximity to Manchester city centre and the major digital hub, MediaCityUK.
“Ordsall Lane in particular is a key gateway that bridges Salford with Manchester, while providing a lower cost of living for residents without comprising on access to bustling amenities and connectivity to the region’s key businesses.
“The Salford market is burgeoning and we will only see an increase in the demand for high-quality rental accommodation as more investment is put into attracting more businesses, and subsequently employees, to the area.”
