FEC’s £200m Angel Meadow to start in new year

Construction on the first two blocks of Far East Consortium’s £200m Angel Meadow project is set to start in early 2018, with the developer launching the first apartments for sale next week.

The developer plans to start construction of a 22-storey block and a 17-storey block on the site next year, although it is understood that a main contractor is yet to be appointed to the project.

The two residential towers – named The Gate and The Stile – will include 286 one, two, and three-bed apartments available for sale, as well as a gym and ground floor commercial units.

The starting price for the one-bed apartments in the towers is £189,950, while the two-bed apartments start from £289,950.

The wider Angel Meadow scheme, which has been renamed MeadowSide by the developer, has been designed by 5plus Architects.

Plans for the project, which will deliver 750 new homes across five buildings, were granted in August this year.

As well as the 22-storey and 17-storey blocks, the development will include a 40-storey tower and smaller blocks of 12 and nine storeys, alongside 6,600 sq ft of commercial space.

Gavin Taylor, regional general manager at FEC, said: “MeadowSide will breathe new life into the biggest green space in central Manchester by creating a new residential community in the Angel Meadow neighbourhood.

“Angel Meadow is a little-known hidden gem in the city and our development will show people a new side to Manchester by offering a unique opportunity to combine and enjoy the best parts of city and park life.”

Cushman & Wakefield and JLL are the appointed agents for the first phase of the scheme.
