Elliot Group submits application for £250m triple towers

The flurry of pre-Christmas planning submissions continues, with the Liverpool developer putting in proposals for the largest single housing project in the city, totalling 1,002 apartments.

Three towers, ranging in height from 27, 33 and 39 storeys, are planned on a site on the corner of Leeds Street and Pall Mall.

Elliot Group said it had named the project Infinity, “in recognition of the stunning views across Liverpool Bay to Snowdonia and beyond”.

The £250m development totals the 1,002 apartments, and a triple-height luxury spa, gym and pool and more than 10,000 sq ft of commercial space.

The tallest of the three towers is 403ft, reaching 436 sq ft above sea level due to the site’s elevated position.

The designs have been adapted since the scheme was first announced in June, after what architect Adam Hall of Falconer Chester Hall said was a number of “enjoyable and productive” design workshops with Liverpool City Council.

Hall said: “We’ve tested everything from sight lines to height, scale and massing, as well as elevational treatments, layouts and the mix of units. The result is a cracking scheme that will help draw the city centre northwards and make an important contribution to Liverpool’s changing skyline.”

A planning application for the proposals has now been submitted and is expected to be considered in the spring. If successful, work would start on site in autumn 2017, with a completion date of autumn 2019. Zerum is acting as planning adviser.
