ECF’s £12.5m Valette Square completes  

The scheme, comprising 33 townhouses on Adelphi Street, was built by John Turner Construction Group and forms part of the development consortium’s £1bn Salford Central masterplan.  

Named after artist Pierre Adolphe Valette, the £12.5m development features three- and four-bedroom properties and is located next to Timekeepers Square, a similar cluster of townhouses that completed in 2017. 

Buttress Architects designed both Valette Square and Timekeepers Square, which are located close to the Farmer Norton car park, in line to be redeveloped into housing under English Cities Fund’s Salford Crescent masterplan. 

The fund, a consortium made up of Muse Developments, Homes England and Legal & General, is prolific in Salford and is also delivering New Bailey, a commercial scheme comprising five new-build office blocks.  

New Bailey falls within the 50-acre Salford Central masterplan, of which Valette Square is a part, that will deliver 850 homes once complete.  

Leon Guyett, development director at the English Cities Fund, said: “Despite the challenging times we’re in, Valette Square is almost sold out, with only a few homes still available. 

“Building on our success in Salford, we believe that Valette Square will further add to the vibrant and diverse community being created here, as we continue to develop the district into a unique and sustainable neighbourhood.” 

Within the same masterplan, the fund is also nearing completion of the 173-unit Atelier on Chapel Street. The project topped out last October.

Absolutely stunning, creating a place where people aspire to live – away from the grim suburban estates being trotted out by the major housebuilders.

Where is the green? Not a sign of anything which might enhance wellbeing or the environment

The architecture is rather bland

These don’t look bad at all, I can see the look they were going for. They will make a change from just apartments that are everywhere but being so close to the city centre they will be mightily expensive.

The architecture is simple and modern, not trying to replicate anything in the area. I like the intimacy of these two phases and the civic feel of the existing building and of course the stunning St Philips church. Great location with easy access in an out of the area and in relation to the city centre. Great what is being done around here and on the regeneration of the crescent and uni land. And hopefully they will green this location up more when the start with those plans.

Lovely looking but no-garden, no real view, no green space, limited parking and doors opening onto the footpath in Salford. Currently going for £380 on Rightmove, 100k more than release price. Crazy times!
