Copperas Hill bids due next month

Liverpool's former postal sorting office is the latest in the region to be sold by Royal Mail Group as it consolidates its vast estate, with bids due on the Copperas Hill site in mid-May.

DTZ is marketing the site on Royal Mail's behalf and has asked for bids to be submitted by Friday 13 May. The guide price is £3.9m.

The prominent edge-of-city centre building is 261,000 sq ft and forms part of a 3.6-acre site. The building would be suitable for a range of uses, says DTZ.

Liverpool City Council wants to focus development in the area on university-related activity including offices for spin-out companies.

In January, Cheshire East Council bought the former Royal Mail site in Crewe for £2.75m. The 4.5-acre Weston Road site became vacant when Royal Mail relocated its sorting offices to Stoke and Warrington.

In summer 2010, Greater Manchester Property Venture Fund acquired the former Royal Mail sorting office on Wellington Road South from the Royal Mail Group to make way for a hotel and office development.
