Clowes secures 20,000 sq ft letting at Viking Park

MKM Building Supplies has taken space at the Congleton estate as work continues apace on the next phase of the mixed-use development.

MKM will use its new 20,000 sq ft home at Clowes Developments’ Viking Park as a builders’ merchant, warehouse, trade counter, and office.

The shed sits adjacent to the next phase of Viking Park – two 12,200 sq ft warehouses capable of being subdivided into three individual spaces. Main contractor and development partner Roe Developments has commenced earthworks on the site. The group hopes to complete this phase before the end of the year.

Marc Freeman, director at Clowes, teased that another letting at Viking Park was in the works – this time for 9,000 sq ft. He noted that the scheme is “coming together”, giving a nod to the now-open Aldi and other food offerings.

“Construction contractor Roe Developments has successfully delivered MKM’s new premises while simultaneously constructing units for Starbucks, Greggs, and KFC further along the site,” Freeman said.

Sansom Commercial acted for MKM on the deal, with Williams Sillitoe and Harris Lamb representing Clowes.

Williams Sillitoe director Mark Sillitoe said: “We’re thrilled to welcome yet another nationally recognised, high-profile occupier to Viking Way in Congleton.

“The scheme continues to go from strength to strength, and we’re already in discussions with further operators eager to secure space in phase two, which is currently under construction,” he continued.

“Viking Way is undoubtedly establishing itself as a prime destination for industrial, trade, and logistics occupiers.”

When Viking Park is finished, it will be home to 175 residences, a 20,500 sq ft supermarket, 36,800 sq ft of offices, and 219,500 sq ft of industrial space. The estate sits six miles off the M6’s Junction 17.
