CERT submits plans for 124 Eccles homes

The former Vauxhall dealership on Albert Street would be redeveloped into a six-storey scheme featuring a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments and townhouses.

CERT Property has lodged proposals for the 0.66-acre plot that would deliver 63 one-bed apartments, 48 with two bedrooms, 11 two-bed townhouses and a pair of three-bed duplexes.

The developer bought the site from Motus earlier this year and set about reworking previously approved plans for a 25-storey tower on the site put forward by Silverlane Developments.

At six-storeys, the proposal put forward by CERT is significantly shorter than Silverlane’s vision for the site and other surrounding buildings like the 17-storey Sentinel House and the two City Approach office buildings, which rise to 11 and nine storeys.

Architectural Emporium is leading on design of CERT’s scheme and Euan Kellie Property Solutions is advising on planning. CW Studio designed the landscaping.

Development in Eccles is ramping up, Muse was recently appointed by the local authority as development partner for the town’s dilapidated shopping centre, located a short distance from CERT’s site.

So Eccles is to become as characterless as Manchester has been developing over the last decade? What a pity!

Unaffordable for most local people

Anonymous 9.04am, have you ever been to Eccles? This proposal is an improvement on what Eccles currently offers.

The scheme looks and feels confused. To many events, trying to do to much. Not sure how this a response to Eccles or Salford.

Better than a derelict 1 storey structure!
Lets get people living in Eccles again.

You clearly don’t know Eccles or how run down it has become. Please stick to the places you know/your own city.

@9:04 Anonymous, as if Eccles had character anyway. This structure is infinitely better than what is currently there, an unused car lot.
