Bruntwood reveals Union designs ahead of summer launch

The developer and landlord has released images of Union, the 66,697 sq ft former Commercial Union House in Manchester’s Albert Square that it acquired in October 2015.

Latterly occupied by Aviva, the six-storey building sits adjacent to Heron House, where Bruntwood has a management contract with Manchester City Council. Planning permission is now being sought for Heron House’s redevelopment.

Union Bruntwood 1Bruntwood is working with Bridge Architects on Union and is on-site, with a building launch planned for summer 2017. The building will provide a new reception, five upper floors of workspace with new glazing and “a modern industrial feel,” including a fifth floor penthouse suite. Floorplates range from 9,389 to 10,691 sq ft. There is 12,500 sq ft of retail at ground floor level.

Ciara Keeling, head of city centre asset management at Bruntwood, said: “We acquired Union last year in response to the ever-growing customer demand for well-designed, contemporary workspace in the heart of the city. Having Albert Square on the doorstep with all the opportunities that brings for participation in the city’s cultural event programme, we know will be a huge draw for this space.

“We love the designs for Union and we know it will meet the demands of professional, businesses looking for agile and inspirational workspace in the city with all the benefits and connections that being a Bruntwood customer brings. We’ll also be implementing a range of new initiatives into our customer proposition to ensure it continues to meet the needs of our customers.”
