Bolton to dispose of 20 sites, including 70-acre farm
The council’s list of plots to sell or lease includes the old Little Lever Library, St Helena Road Car Park in Halliwell, and nearly 18 acres off Tempest Road in Westhoughton and Chew Moor.
The sales would mark phase eight of Bolton Council’s strategic asset management plan, with funds going towards the local authority’s capital programme and district centre investment.
Bolton’s executive cabinet member for regeneration, Cllr Adele Warren, approved the disposal of the sites at a meeting on 15 August. The council will now investigate putting the sites up for auction.
Of the 20 sites, the largest is the Bryan Hey Farm in Smithills. The nearly 70-acre farm would be available for leasing but would retain an agricultural or enhanced use, according to council documents.
There are restrictions for a few other sites as well. The old Little Lever Library off Coronation Square, for instance, would need its future owners to agree to keep the war memorial at its front.
Below, you will find a list of the sites up for disposal. Acreage has been provided for most sites, as well as the ward where they are located.

More development being encouraged in Westhoughton / Chew Moor.
The infrastructure simply cannot cope with the volume of housing in the area. Its already traffic chaos at busy time with long queues of traffic on Tempest Road.
When are Bolton council going to stop selling everything to simply swell the coffers.
