Bolton at Home starts on 168 homes
With practical completion dates in 2023 and 2024, the projects will bring new affordable homes to Little Lever and Horwich.
Caddick Construction has begun work on Bolton at Home’s extra care home in Little Lever, known as Lever Gardens. The scheme includes 62 one- and two-bedroom apartments, as well as six bungalows. The development is aimed at those aged 55 and over. Lever Gardens has a practical completion date of October 2023. Earlier this year, Greater Manchester Combined Authority awarded the scheme £481,097 from the government’s Brownfield Land Fund.
In Horwich, Whitfield & Brown is on site on land off Singleton Avenue. The contractor is building 47 homes for affordable rent and shared ownership. Practical completion for the scheme is set for June 2023.
Lane End is building 53 affordable rent and shared ownership homes at the Rivington Chase site, a development being done in partnership with Irwell Valley Homes. Rivington Chase will be the final project to finish of the three Bolton at Home projects, with a practical completion of February 2024.
Bolton at Home group chief executive officer Jon Lord said: “New housing has to help people in a wide range of circumstances, which is why we’re developing a broad mix of new properties including homes for rent, some for shared ownership and supported housing. These latest affordable homes will offer that choice in the areas where people need them most.
“The new homes won’t just benefit the people living there. They help us to generate income that we can reinvest to improve our older properties, provide important community services, and keep rent levels affordable. It’s great to see these new developments of ours starting on site across Bolton.”
