Bloor tones down plans for West Cheshire homes

Having previously aimed for 1,100 homes on a 130-acre Green Belt site in Weaverham, the developer has reduced the number of properties planned by 200 and launched a second round of consultation.

Bloor Homes is seeking views on its plans for 900 homes – including 45% affordable ones – between Hartford and Acton Bridge stations. The neighbourhood would help Cheshire West and Chester Council towards its 2,000 homes a year target, set by government.

The housebuilder has described the scheme as a “landscape-led proposal…carefully shaped by the existing woodland, trees and hedgerows”. In all, around 30 acres of the site are earmarked for public green space.

The proposed development would feature a new through road providing a direct connection from the A49 to Northwich Road.

Toby Hudson, strategic land director at Bloor Homes, said: “Our vision for Weaverham South is to create a natural extension to the village, on land identified by Cheshire West and Chester Council as a key location to help meet the borough’s future housing needs.

“Alongside up to 900 new homes, including up to 45% affordable housing, the plans would create new green spaces, improve walking and cycling connections and safeguard land for the future expansion of local schools. The proposals have been carefully shaped to support Weaverham’s future while respecting the village’s character and surrounding landscape.”

The consultation runs from 4 September to 21 September.

A public drop-in event will also be taking place on Monday 14 September 3pm – 7.30pm at Weaverham Community Centre on Russet Road in Weaverham.

Bloor Homes is expected to submit an outline planning application for Weaverham South to Cheshire West and Chester Council later this year.
