Blackpool picks Place for second consecutive MIPIM
After a successful trip to Cannes in 2025, the local council will return to the international property expo in 2026 as part of the Place North delegation to continue conversations with international investors and developers.
This year saw Blackpool Council head to MIPIM for the very first time armed with £2bn worth of investment opportunities to show the world.
Blackpool went to Cannes to promote the town as a whole, as well as highlighting major development opportunities at Blackpool Central – a £300m leisure-led regeneration project – and the 50-acre Silicon Sands data centre campus at Blackpool Airport Enterprise Zone.
Armed with the experience of 2025, Blackpool heads to MIPIM next year hungry for more.
As part of the Place North delegation, and as a local authority, Blackpool’s representatives will benefit from a special tailored package of activity that includes MIPIM passes, opportunities to speak on the UK Stage, and access to all Place events.
Lynn Williams, Leader of Blackpool Council, said the authority’s second visit to MIPIM would be all about building on the foundations laid in 2025.
“Our £2bn growth and prosperity programme is all about growing our local economy, creating jobs for local people and improving where we live. To continue the regeneration that is happening now, we need to promote the best of our home town not just here in the UK but to international investors,” she said.
“We have a fantastic opportunity to market Blackpool, not just because of our £1.7bn visitor economy, but because also we have the workforce, skills provision and ambition to support investment across a range of sectors. To make those plans a reality, we need to speak to the people who can make them happen and MIPIM is the perfect opportunity for that.”
Williams added: “Yet again, Place North has created a package that allows us to be in the right place and in front of the right audience to talk about local investment and share our passion for commercial property regeneration which benefits our people and our town.”
Dino Moutsopoulos, managing partner at Place North, said: “Having Blackpool join the delegation in 2025 was a sign of its ambition to attract global investors to the town.
“Ambition continues to grow and clearly such a swift commitment to return with Place North shows how useful working with us, particularly at MIPIM, has been.
He added: “We were and are very proud to have facilitated Blackpool’s attendance in a way that keeps their spend to an absolute minimum while providing the council with a verity of unique opportunities for profile and access that one can’t get elsewhere.
“I am truly thrilled to have Blackpool back with Place North at MIPIM and I look forward to supporting Lynn and [growth and prosperity programme director] Nick Gerrard again in March.”
