Bellway appeals Chorley refusal

The housebuilder’s plan to redevelop the former DXC Technology site in Buckshaw Village into 108 homes was rejected earlier this year.

In refusing Bellway’s application in line with officers’ recommendations, Chorley Council’s planning committee said the scheme would result in an “unsustainable form of development”.

In addition, the council said the project would “result in an unacceptable reduction in the type and quantity of employment land”.

Bellway has now lodged an appeal against the refusal. An inquiry is due to begin on 21 February 2023.

The developer’s Euxton proposals feature a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom houses on the 7.4-acre plot. The existing vacant office building on the site would be demolished under the proposals.

Pegasus Planning and Astle Planning & Design advised Bellway on its proposals.

To learn more about the scheme, search for application number 21/01475/FULMAJ on Chorley Council’s planning portal.

Bellway need to step back from this. It’s very much business/industry land and anything else will jar against the overall Buckshaw Village framework.
