Beech progresses next phase of Chester Road resi  

The developer wants to demolish the multistorey car park and filling station next to its Westpoint apartment scheme to pave the way for the next phase of development. 

Beech Holdings has submitted an application to Trafford Council for the demolition work, which will “facilitate the implementation of future development proposals which are currently being prepared,” according to a planning statement by Paul Butler Associates. 

The car park and filling station sit next to Westpoint on a triangular plot bound by Chester Road, Stretford Road and Nuttal Street. 

Beech acquired the 100,000 sq ft Westpoint office building from Marcol in 2016. 

The developer then converted the building into 317 co-living-style apartments. The project was one of the largest in a wave of office-to-resi conversions in the area.

The next phase of the project will feature a “collection of luxury PRS apartments”, Beech Holdings chief executive Stephen Beech told Place North West. 

“Our aim with this site is to further enhance and add to the redevelopment of the increasingly popular area of the Chester Road corridor,” he said. 

“A collection of luxury PRS apartments are planned. This scheme will not only provide much-needed quality homes in an area of huge undersupply, but our long-term operation of the building means the development will create jobs for local people.
