Anwyl rounds off 500 homes, cites ‘end of era’

The Welsh housebuilder began work at Rhyl’s Parc Aberkinsey in 2010 and welcomed the first residents in spring 2011 – now, 15 years after breaking ground on site, all 50 acres have been developed.

Found off Dyserth Road to the east of Rhyl town centre, the 500-home development has delivered a range of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes.

Prospective tenants have the choice of mews, semi-detached, and detached house styles.

Included within the 50-acre plot are eight acres of green open space and three play areas, which are also open to the wider Rhyl community.

More than 30% of the homes are affordable, and every home has been sold.

Anwyl has contributed more than £400,000 in support of local primary school education, a legal condition upon receiving planning permission from Denbighshire County Council in 2010.

Mathew Anwyl, housing managing director at Anwyl, said: “The completion of Parc Aberkinsey marks the end of an era for us in Rhyl. We’re proud of the new village we’ve created here and of the benefits we’ve delivered for the wider community.

“Rhyl will always be a special place for us as it’s where our roots are as a family business, and we’ve been building homes here since the 1960s.

“We’re proud that Parc Aberkinsey will now be part of our legacy here.”

Over the years, more than 1,600 people have been employed for the scheme’s construction.

It is expected that once fully occupied, residents could generate around £978,000 a year in council tax contributions for Denbighshire County Council.
