Anwyl Homes ties up latest Muller deal

The housebuilder has started work on 40 homes within the Cheshire property group’s Maylands Park masterplan off Peter de Stapleigh Way on the edge of Nantwich.

The deal follows further purchases made from Muller Property Group in Crewe and Sandbach, and is part of a suite of projects adding to David Wilson Homes’ 188-home project kicking off Maylands Park.

These projects also feature a retirement village by McCarthy Stone and a care home by MPG.

As reported by Place in February, Muller is now seeking a further 411-home consent at Maylands Park. Despite Cheshire East’s lack of a five-year supply, a separate neighbouring project has struggled to win over Cheshire East’s strategic planning board in recent months in what is proving a popular area for land promoters and developers.

Anwyl, which has long been attached to the Maylands Park project, has billed its scheme as Weaver Forge. It will offer 40 homes, from one-bed apartments to four-bed detached homes. A third will be affordable housing.

Mathew Tudor-Owen, land director at Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said: “We’re pleased to have acquired three acres of land in Nantwich from Muller Property Group, having worked closely with them to navigate through the planning process.

“Together with land we’ve previously acquired from Muller Property Group in Crewe and Sandbach, it will strengthen our development pipeline and reinforce our commitment to delivering high quality homes in well‑connected, popular locations.

“We’re looking forward to delivering new homes that will bring investment and long‑term benefits to the area.”

Colin Muller, founder and chief executive of Muller Property Group, said: “While there is a clear and pressing need for new homes in Nantwich, securing consent for this site has required considerable time, investment and persistence.

“Throughout the planning process we worked proactively to demonstrate how this development could make a meaningful contribution to the area’s housing supply, including much-needed affordable homes, alongside significant financial contributions towards local services.

“This scheme will not only help address housing demand but also deliver tangible benefits for the wider community through investment in education, healthcare and recreation.

“We are pleased to have brought the site forward to this stage and look forward to seeing high-quality new homes delivered for local people. Positive collaboration and a shared focus on meeting housing need is always the best way to achieve sustainable growth.”

Anwyl will invest more than £275,000 in the local area in the form of Section 106 contributions. This includes around £110,000 for secondary education; a special educational needs contribution of around £75,000; more than £56,000 for recreation and sports; with £36,000+ earmarked for healthcare.

Having previously secured permission for local centre retail and employment floorspace, Muller’s pivot to 40 further homes, retirement and care provision was revealed in October 2024.
