Alo Yoga commits to New Cathedral Street
The luxury activewear brand has become the latest retailer to sign for space within the high-end Manchester shopping pitch, taking a 7,000 sq ft unit.
Alo Yoga said that this will be its “first UK sanctuary outside London”.
The deal at New Cathedral Street follows recent transactions with outdoor brand Arc’teryx – which announced its impending arrival in April – along with Represent. Alo Yoga has signed for 10 years.
Founded in Los Angeles in 2007, Alo has built a worldwide following among wellness enthusiasts and celebrities alike. It now has 70+ locations, mostly in the US and Canada.
Located opposite Manchester Arndale, Sovereign Centros from CBRE on behalf of M&G Real Estate and Global Mutual act as joint asset managers of New Cathedral Street, which is also home to premium brands including Harvey Nichols, Zara, Paul Smith, Hugo Boss, and Ralph Lauren.
Steve Gray, head of European retail asset management at Global Mutual, said: “Welcoming Alo Yoga to New Cathedral Street underlines its reputation as one of the UK’s premium retail destinations. As demand continues to rise for premium lifestyle brands beyond London, Manchester’s strong demographics and cultural energy make it a natural choice for growing brands.”
Scott Linard, portfolio director for M&G Real Estate, added: “Alo Yoga is a fantastic addition to our retail mix. We’re proud to support the growth of innovative brands like Alo Yoga who are seeking high-quality, well-located space to connect with new audiences.
“Their arrival highlights the strength and diversity of Manchester’s retail offer.”
Metis Real Estate and Time Retail Partners are New Cathedral Street’s retained letting agents.
