Alliance completes latest Manchester resi block
Property Alliance Group has completed its seven-storey Manhattan residential project in Manchester city centre, designed by Jon Matthews Architects.
Built by Russells Construction, the scheme is located off New York Street and replaces a 1970s office building. All 42 of the one and two-bedroom apartments were sold off plan, with the first tenants moving in recently.
Completions are still progressing although further move in dates are yet to be confirmed due to the current coronavirus restrictions.
Designed in a New York loft style, each flat has floor to ceiling windows and private terraces set into a multi-level garden wall. On the seventh floor, there are duplex penthouses.
The ground floor has a 2,120 sq ft retail or leisure unit which is available to let.
Externally, the front façade and part of the original five-storey building was retained and enhanced, with the red brick tinted blue, while a two-storey upwards extension has been finished in glass and copper panels.
Alex Russell, managing director of Alliance, said: “The completion of Manhattan closely follows Axis, adding our second residential development to Manchester city centre this year.
“It’s a building that mixes contemporary and industrial architecture and has a unique position in the city centre, situated opposite Chinatown. This location combined with high spec finishes and private terraces has proved really popular with buyers, generating quick sales.”
Support services for Manhattan residents will be provided by Alliance City Living.
Hynes Illingworth is the agent for the commercial space at Manhattan. Cube also advised on the design.
