Views submits £7m Levenshulme plans
The Manchester–based developer has submitted an application for 30 apartments and 9,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space at 764-786 Stockport Road.
Designed by Ollier Smurthwaite, the Levenshulme development comes off the back of proposals for a 42-apartment scheme in Manchester’s Curry Mile.
On the corner of Stockport Road and Swallow Street, Views wants to create 10 one-bedroom and 20, two-bedroom apartments, as well as nine commercial units.
A public consultation on the proposals was held in February this year. The three-building scheme will replace the existing unoccupied properties on the site.
Once complete, the scheme will have a GDV in the region of £7m, according to the developer.
“We are very excited about our plans for 764-786 Stockport Road,” said Patrick Sheridan, senior development manager at Views.
“[The project] has the opportunity to offer a more diverse retail offering that meets the needs of the flourishing Levenshulme community.”
Avison Young is the planning consultant on behalf of Views.

What about parking?

I’m normally 100% for developments that discourage car use, but zero on-site parking provision for thirty new households doesn’t feel quite right here.

The scheme is on a road which gets a bus every 2 minutes and Levenshulme station is a 10 minute walk away.
Motorists need to live in the real world: this is an inner city location where space is restricted and expensive.
