Your Housing finishes Chester care homes

Your Housing Group is on course to finish two extra care retirement schemes in Chester next month for a mix of affordable rent, shared ownership and outright sale.

Kingswood on Kingsway in Newton will have 82 one- and two-bedroom apartments on 3.2 acres on the site of the former Woodfield School. The project cost £8.3m and received a £1.8m grant from the Homes & Communities Agency.

The Windings will have 77 one- and two-bedroom apartments over three and four floors on Cable Drive in Helsby, Chester. The £8.7m development received a £460,000 grant from the HCA.

Both developments will include on site amenities including a bistro, hairdressers and beauty salon, all open for non-residents to use.

All the specially designed apartments have wet rooms and well equipped kitchens with built in appliances including integrated oven, hob and extractor fan.

Kathy Cowell, chairman of Your Housing Group, said: "Together with Abbot's Wood, which opened last year, Kingswood and The Windings will complete the trio of retirement living villages we have provided for local people in Chester as part of our £150m affordable homes programme. Your Housing Group is helping tackle the national older person's housing crisis by providing 450 high quality new homes for the over 55s across the North West, making us one of the largest developers of extra care housing in the UK."

Cruden Construction is building Kingswood and Keepmoat is delivering The Windings. The architect for both schemes is Manchester-based Pozzoni.
