Pochin’s, Citybranch complete hospital construction

Contractor developer Pochin's, in partnership with Citybranch, has announced the practical completion of the 75,000 sq ft Altrincham Hospital on behalf of Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The £17m build and fit-out, which is to undergo further specialist fit-out before opening, sees the completion of a modern medical facility in Railway Street to replace Altrincham's existing hospital, which dates back to the 19th-Century.

The new four-storey community hospital has been under construction since 2013, and will provide a range of general and specialist outpatient, diagnostic and therapeutic services, including a dedicated haemodialysis unit to replacing the Trust's previous unit at Wythenshawe Hospital.

Bob Nicholson, development director of Pochin's said: "The conclusion of this project marks the arrival of a truly word-class medical facility for the Trust and the local community around Trafford and Altrincham. The delivery of this project to schedule is in no small part due to the close working relationship we have fostered with both the Trust and Citybranch, and we look forward to working with them again in future.

"This is an extremely exciting time for Altrincham as the area undergoes significant regeneration, and this new facility will play an integral part in supporting further developments."

The hospital is due to open at the end of April.
