Sixteen hires for new planning division

The Manchester-based property agency Sixteen Real Estate has hired Dan Whitney to head up its newly formed planning department in what the firm described as “the next natural step for the agency”.

Whitney’s appointment as associate director takes Sixteen’s headcount to seven as it aims to meet increased demand for planning services brought about by the firm’s ongoing development and refurbishment projects.

Having spent more than a decade with planning consultant Mosaic Town Planning, Whitney joined Didsbury-based White Peak Planning last October before his move to Sixteen.

The firm, which has its headquarters on the sixth floor of the Origin office building on Spring Gardens, was founded in 2016 by agents Nick Nelson and Andy Backhouse.

Alex Haigh, Sixteen’s retail and leisure director, said: “We believe that growing Sixteen Real Estate, with the addition of an experienced planner, makes a lot of sense.

“Dan’s expertise fits well with the rest of the team and will drive our business forward.”
