NW towns to benefit from new cycling routes

Transport Minister Sadiq Khan has announced today Lancaster, Blackpool and Southport will share £1.2m to make cycling improvements.

The funding is part of Government's remaining £10m allocation of its £60m cycling budget for this year.

It will deliver new parking provisions, designated routes and a range of other enhancements aimed at encouraging more people to cycle.

Results from an evaluation of the original six cycle demonstration towns in Aylesbury, Brighton & Hove, Darlington, Derby, Exeter and Lancaster, shows a 27% increase in the number of cycle trips.
