Manchester firm gains planning consent for LJLA extension
Manchester-based architects Leach Rhodes Walker has secured planning approval for the extension of the existing terminal at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
Peel Airports, advised by Leach Rhodes Walker, will relocate the search 'comb' into one of the existing hangers to give the facility more space, accommodate the newest search machines and 'give passengers a better airport experience'.
The work will also see the creation of a new link from the check-in desks to the new search facility via a vertical and horizontal passenger route as well as the redevelopment of level three of the terminal transforming it from a landside retail facility to an airside facility.
Work is due to start on site immediately with a target to complete the work by summer 2010.
