Homewares store opens in Hollywood Park

Standard Life Investments has let the former Barrow Superbowl leisure unit on Hollywood Park in Barrow-in-Furness to Dunelm Soft Furnishings.

The homewares store has taken the 23,100 sq ft unit on a new 15-year lease at a rent of £11/sq ft.

Planning consent has been obtained to change the property's use from leisure to bulky goods retail for Dunelm, as well as for its trading mezzanine floor.

Hollywood Park is located opposite Tesco Extra, Next, Homebase and Pets at Home. Other operators on the scheme include Currys, Comet, Dreams Beds, Apollo Cinema and a Nuffield Health club.

Dunelm has faced opposition from officials at Barrow Borough Council and Furness Enterprise about opening at Hollywood Park, with arguments claiming the homewares and soft furnishings store is likely to take trade out of the town centre.

Standard Life Investments was jointly advised by Edgerley Simpson Howe and King Sturge. Mason and Partners represented Dunelm Soft Furnishings.
