NWDA grant helps Japanese firm expand in Oldham
Rika International, a Japanese-owned chemical research firm, has taken extra space at Howarth Court in Chadderton.
The firm has doubled the size of its European HQ to 5,500 sq ft following a successful bid to the North West Development Agency for grant funding to support the firm's capital investment required to grow capacity.
The company undertakes research, product development and technical service for polypropylene plastic markets such as packaging, housewares and medical applications on behalf of global petrochemical customers.
MIDAS and NWDA worked closely with Rika International, a wholly owned subsidiary of the New Japan Chemical Company, to support the expansion.
Mark Hughes, chief executive of the NWDA, said: "This is an excellent example of how businesses can really benefit from our funding and continued support even after they have successfully located to the North West. Rika's decision to expand within the region is testament to the key infrastructure facilities we offer."
