Wrightbus opens Preston office

Wrightbus, the UK manufacturing division of the Wright Group, has opened a design office in Preston.

The company, which was recently awarded a contract for the design and build of a new bus for London, is opening a new 720 sq ft office within the South Preston Office Village development, owned by Roundhouse Properties.

Brian Maybin, engineering director from Wrightbus, said: "After a rigorous study of the UK we chose South Preston Office Village for our new chassis design office because of good geographical location, ease of access for travel from head office and of course the experienced automotive talent pool available in the Lancashire area."

Wrightbus, headquartered in County Antrim in Northern Ireland, said five new jobs have been created in Preston.

The article above states that "The company, which was recently awarded a contract for the design and build of a new bus for London" . . . but I should point out that the NBFL was actually designed by Heatherwick Studios of London (same people who designed the Olympic Flame with all those metal petals). The tender for the manufacture the bus went to ‘Wrightbbus’ of Ballymena/Northern Ireland.
