Warrington considers 80-bed care home

Proposals to replace and extend the town’s existing care facilities on the site of the former Bewsey Old School will be deliberated by the council’s cabinet on Monday.

Healthcare provider Warrington Place has developed plans for an 80-bed care home to be delivered off Lockton Lane.

Beds would be spread across three floors to deliver a total of 68,900 sq ft of accommodation. Ground floor office space would also be created, totalling 4,300 sq ft.

Staff and visitors would have access to 122 car parking spaces, as well as ambulance parking and patient drop-off.

According to a council report, Warrington’s existing facilities at Padgate House and Brampton Lodge are “not fit for purpose” providing a total of only 49 beds.

The cost of the scheme to replace the existing care homes is currently estimated at £25.8m. It is anticipated that this cost will be supported through the council’s capital financing regime and partnership with the NHS.

If approved by the cabinet, a formal planning application will be submitted.
