VIDEO | Morgan Sindall pilots innovative approach to social value delivery

Working with seven of its North West supply chain family partners, the construction firm is setting out a targeted approach to improving the communities it works in and providing opportunities for local residents through its North West Responsible Business Charter. The pilot is being aimed at manufacturers and suppliers with a significant local footprint across the North West.

At a recent roundtable, Morgan Sindall Construction gathered senior representatives from Pilkington, IKO, Sika, DES Energy, Alumasc, Marshalls, and SIG to discuss the recently launched social value initiative, which promises a more purposeful and measurable approach.

“This programme provides structure, clarity and real accountability,” said Gill Roberts, social value lead at Morgan Sindall Construction in the North West.

“Working collectively with our supply chain family, we can deliver measurable impact that benefits local communities, businesses and the region.”

One of Morgan Sindall’s core values is ‘doing the right thing’ and a holistic and collaborative route to delivering social value is what this looks like in practice, Roberts added.

The contractor and its supply chain are embarking on a more bespoke approach to unlocking social value that will take into account the needs of a specific location rather than just ticking a series of boxes.

Over the next year, the partners will track delivery of social value against agreed KPIs, as well as capturing data, and producing case studies to evidence impact, according to Morgan Sindall.

The North West pilot is the first step in a wider, more holistic journey for Morgan Sindall, one that deepens their social value ambitions and unites people, partners and communities.

“It offers a blueprint for how we might engage the supply chain family across the wider group nationally,” said Neil Carson, supply chain manager at Morgan Sindall Construction.

Gill Roberts said the programme would help “turn good intentions into a coordinated plan with clear outcomes.”
