Stockport Exchange office reaches high point

The 50,000 sq ft office within Stockport Exchange, the development site next to the train station which is being brought forward by Muse and Stockport Council, has topped out.

As well as the five-storey office, the second phase of work at Stockport Exchange will deliver a new 115-bed Holiday Inn Express and public space outside the train station, creating a major gateway into the town centre.

The road layout is also being reconfigured to improve access to the station and provide a dedicated drop-off facility.

Stockport Exchange will see a new commercial district and commuter hub created in the heart of the town centre. It is part of the Council’s Investing in Stockport programme of works.

Wes Erlam, development director at Muse, said: “This is a major milestone in realising this game-changing new mixed-use development for Stockport. As well as providing high-quality, energy efficient office accommodation and hotel rooms in a central location, it is transforming the area around Stockport train station into an attractive and welcoming space for everyone to enjoy.”

Completion of the office is expected in October and the hotel in December 2016.

Stockport Exchange will deliver up to 375,000 sq ft of office space and 28,000 sq ft of commercial floor space.

The first phase of the scheme, a 1,000 space multi-storey car park operated by NCP, was completed in 2014 and is open to the public.

Cushman & Wakefield and CBRE are appointed as joint agents for the scheme.
