SCP hires associate director

Mark Devenish has joined transport planning consultancy SCP as associate director.  

Devenish was employed earlier this month and brings the Manchester team in York Road up to 25 members of staff. He will be assisting clients in gaining planning consent and overcoming technical highways and transportation issues.  

A chartered engineer, he worked at Sanderson Associates in Huddersfield for three years as a principal transport planning engineer, and left in July to join SCP.

Devenish’s responsibilities included transport statements, travel plans, and road safety audits throughout his three years with the company.  

He has experience on a wide range of schemes from major urban extensions and retail parks, to overcoming severe access constraints at smaller sites. He worked on the Furness Quay project in Salford on a transport assessment and travel plan, in particular looking at the impact the scheme would have on the Metrolink.  

Director Dave Robson said that Devenish’s “experience and style of working is a great fit for us, along with his knowledge of the issues and personalities in the North West”.  

He added: “Mark’s addition will allow us to enhance the service to our clients in terms of the extra resource available to us whilst maintaining the high quality of work that our clients expect and deserve.” 

Schemes that SCP has worked on include Wardle Airfield in Nantwich and Buckshaw Village in Chorley.
