Salix Homes names chief exec
Salford-based social housing provider Salix Homes has appointed Lee Sugden from Wakefield & District Housing as chief executive.
Sugden will take up the post on 1 December. He has worked in the housing sector for more than 20 years in a variety of senior roles, and held the position of executive director of resources at Wakefield & District. He is also a voluntary board member of Rochdale Boroughwide Housing.
Sugden will take over from interim chief executive Sue Sutton, who stepped into the role in February following the retirement of former chief executive Joe Willis.
In November tenants in Salford voted to transfer 8,500 homes from Salford City Council to Salix Homes. Sugden will oversee Salix Homes' move from an arms-length management organisation to a not-for-profit registered provider, with the transfer expected to take place in April next year.
Sugden, said: "Salix Homes has got a fantastic reputation as being an organisation that delivers a first class housing service across Salford and thanks to the transfer we now have the opportunity to deliver an even better service by improving people's homes, strengthening communities, building new homes and creating jobs and it's an exciting journey ahead."
