Ryanair doubles Norwegian services from Liverpool

Ryanair is to start a second service to Norway from Liverpool John Lennon Airport with twice weekly flights to Oslo Rygge due to start on 5 November 2010.

The airport opened in 2007 as a secondary airport for Oslo which is 37 miles away. The airport's nearest city is Moss, 6 miles away.

Ryanair flies four times a week to Oslo Torp. It flies to 45 destinations from Liverpool.

Robin Tudor, head of PR for Peel Airports, said: "Norway is growing in popularity as a destination, particular for winter leisure breaks. However just as important has been the growing numbers of Norwegians travelling over to visit the North West, with many coming to see their favourite premier league team with the Norwegian interest in English football stronger than ever."

Ryanair released 500,000 tickets to Oslo Rygge at £9 each but the promotion closed at midnight yesterday, the day Liverpool John Lennon Airport announced the new service.
