RLB expands in Liverpool with Todd & Ledson buy

Rider Levett Bucknall has grown its operations in the city with the acquisition of fellow cost consultant Todd & Ledson.

Todd & Ledson is headed up by partners Phil Waring, Stuart Wands, and Chris Balshaw, and was established in 1946 in Liverpool. Projects the company has worked on include St Catherine’s Hospital for the Wirral NHS Trust and Sefton Water Centre .

RLB already operates an office at The Plaza in Liverpool but RLB staff will move in to Todd & Ledson’s head office at No 8 Princes Parade once the deal completes on 1 May.

This will be branded as RLB | Todd & Ledson until May 2020, when the Todd & Ledson brand will be dropped.

RLB’s other offices in the North West are in Manchester, Cumbria, and Warrington.

Russell Bolton, managing partner for the North at RLB said: “We are delighted to be joined by the fantastic team at Todd & Ledson. This is a company that shares the same business values, culture and professional standards as us at RLB.

“The RLB | Todd & Ledson venture in Liverpool creates a destination consultancy for those looking for innovative solutions within the built environment by offering them the full portfolio of professional services as well as a wealth of expertise and experience.”

Stuart Wands from Todd & Ledson added: “The integration of our two organisations made perfect sense as it expands the services we offer locally but also broadens the opportunities for us to offer our services to clients on a regional and national basis.”

Good luck to Chris, Phil and Stuart and all the staff at an excellent company.

Usual then – fight for who is in charge. Like moving in with a new partner – you don’t need all the stuff you have got and will have to rationalise………….

Sad news to see a well established 70 year old ‘local’ Liverpool business taken over by another national conglomerate. Is bigger always better? I don’t think so. Not many of the ‘smaller’ higher quality practices left in Liverpool.

One of the first PQS firms I ever worked with when I first started. Not many of them left! Best of luck.
