Riot Rebuild needs property volunteers
North West property trades people are being asked to help repair homes and business premises affected by the recent riots through a new voluntary initiative called Riot Rebuild .
The initiative has been launched online and invites professionals to provide their expertise and help free of charge to enable businesses and residents to rebuild their properties as swiftly as possible.
Riot Rebuild was founded by London-based architectural designer Lee Wilshire, supported by several volunteers including Cheshire-based architects Blue Barnacles.
"Like so many people we were horrified by the wanton destruction which took place across the country and wanted to do something practical to help," said Andrew Green, director, Blue Barnacles.
"Offering our services free of charge to support people rebuilding their homes, businesses and wider communities is the least we can do. We can untangle bureaucracy to help people get back on their feet as quickly as possible."
Wilshire added: "Following the clean-up comes the rebuild. This will be a longer, slower more painful process and far harder for businesses and residents to get back on their feet as they struggle amongst other things with slow insurance payouts or the lack thereof.
"I want this initiative to be a place to start the rebuild, linking destruction with repair and reconstruction, linking problems with the people who can solve them."
Riot Rebuild aims to help people with either a business or residential property – owner or leaseholder – who need help either with immediate rebuilding work or down the line with architecture or planning services, and public realm.
