Online Home Shop boosts Manchester presence
The retailer has acquired a 54,000 sq ft industrial unit in Tyldesley from Thyssenkrupp for almost £3m.
Online Home Shop will use the two-storey property off Bankfield Road to meet growing demand, with the company having experienced 100% growth every year since 2018.
Engineering firm Thyssenkrupp occupied the facility for 15 years, however the building was in need of an upgrade.
Despite Thyssenkrupp’s negotiations with Legat Owen’s building surveying team, which was working on behalf of the landlord Urus Property, to manage its exit with the intention of refurbishment, OHS purchased the property in its existing condition.
OHS’s decision to acquire the additional 54,000 sq ft space comes just months after the company expanded its existing Greater Manchester headquarters in June. The facility on Worsley’s Wardley Industrial Estate almost doubled in size from 45,000 sq ft to 70,000 sq ft.
Legat Owen managed the disposal of the Tyldesley property, which will generate up to 100 new jobs for the area.
Matt Pochin, director at Legat Owen, said: “Online Home Shop is a real success story for Manchester and we’re pleased to have supported the company in its continued expansion.
“This is an excellent example of the added value a multi-disciplinary practice can bring to the table.”
