Oldham approves 102 homes
Councillors voted to sign off a project from Stonebond Properties and Great Places Housing Group, as well as one from textiles company R. Gledhill, at the local authority’s planning committee meeting on Wednesday.
Both decisions were in line with officer recommendation.
Foxdenton Strategic Site
- Application reference number FUL/351514/23
Stonebond Properties and Great Places Housing Group can move forward with their plans to build 42 affordable homes on three acres of land north of Foxdenton Lane in Chadderton.
The scheme is part of the part of the wider Foxdenton strategic site plan, which calls for up to 500 homes to be built. So far 394 have been approved – 436 when you include the ones in councillors voted on on Wednesday.
The homes will be a mix of detached, semi-detached, and mews properties – all two-storey in height. Of the 42 approved, nine will have two bedrooms, 29 will have three, and four will have four bedrooms. The houses will be available for shared ownership.
Plan Red is the planning consultant for the scheme. TPM Landscape, Mulberry, Envirotech, and E3P are also on the project team.
Bailey Mill
- Application reference number: FUL/350293/22
Nicol Thomas Architects’ designs to revitalise the site of a burned-down mill got the go-ahead on Wednesday.
The application from R. Gledhill would see 60 homes – a mixture of houses and flats – built on the site of the old Bailey Mill off Delph New Road. The former woollen mill was mostly destroyed in a fire in 2016 – a year after it had become listed.
The plans include converting to of the remaining intact buildings into residences, with the old office mill holding three three-bedroom homes and the old west warehouse housing five two-bedroom and four one-bedroom apartments.
There will be two new housing blocks built as well, both four storeys in height. The first of these blocks will have nine two-bed flats and seven four-bed houses, while the second will contain four two-bedroom and nine one-bedroom apartments.
The remaining homes will dot the remainder of the site.
In addition to Nicol Thomas Architects, the project team includes Townscape, Edge, and Modal.
