Northstone prevails in Bolton
Plans for the developer’s second scheme in the borough, 108 homes at Garnet Fold farm off St Helens Road, have been given the go-ahead.
The 10-acre scheme, being delivered by Peel L&P’s housebuilding division, Northstone, is to feature a 1.2-acre woodland recreation area and comprises a range of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes.
As part of the plans, Northstone is to contribute more than £700,000 towards primary and secondary education improvements across the borough and more than £150,000 towards new public open space.
Hope Architects designed the scheme and NJL Consulting is advising on planning.
Nearby in Westhoughton, the developer is on site building its 150-home Silkash scheme, due for completion in 2022.
In December the authority’s planning committee refused the firm’s plans to redevelop Horwich Golf Club into housing for the third time.
Northstone had twice scaled back its Horwich plans, first from 300 to 276 homes before returning for a third time with a 150-home scheme, but to no avail.
