Northstone hopeful of Horwich homes approval
Bolton Council has recommended proposals for 208 homes at Horwich Golf Club be approved a year after the developer won outline consent for the wider development at appeal.
The council refused Northstone outline planning permission for the redevelopment of the 34-acre golf club three times before the developer prevailed at appeal in August 2021.
The 208 homes and accompanying green space off Victoria Road will be the first elements of the wider project to be delivered if Bolton’s planning committee votes in line with officer recommendations next week.
“We hope the council will support the views of officers in approving this application and that we have the opportunity to continue to demonstrate our commitment to being a good neighbour and important partner in Bolton over the coming months and years ahead,” said Jonathan England, development director at Northstone.
A third of the homes would be designated as affordable and Northstone, part of Peel L&P, would make contributions totalling more than £900,000 towards local education provision off-site open space in the community.
England added: “We have worked very closely with the local community to develop a scheme that not only offers exemplary design but will deliver a sustainable and vibrant neighbourhood for existing and future generations and we look forward to continuing strong working relationships with local people in the future.”
NJL Planning is advising Northstone on the scheme. Peel L&P acquired Horwich Golf Club in 2012.
