WSP expands ecology offering

Salford-based WSP Group has appointed Mark Webb as technical director for ecology in its environment team, as part of plans to grow its services for residential developer clients.

Webb has been given a remit to expand WSP's specialist ecology offering in the region. He joined from Peak Ecology where he was a director.

Webb has advised on schemes including Dogger Bank in Teesside and the Heathrow Airport Terminal 5.

The environment team at WSP works alongside the company's water, landscape and sustainability advisors. Recent projects include infrastructure and environmental studies for Muse Developments and on Warrington Council's Bridge Street regeneration scheme.

Webb said: "There is increasing demand in the North West for specialist services, including ecological and environmental assessments, thanks to a rising number of green and brownfield sites being released for private sector development, especially in the residential sector, making this a key growth area for the business.

WSP's office at Salford Quays consists of 181 staff operating across multi-disciplines, including structural and building services engineering, infrastructure, transport planning, and management advisory and environmental consultancy.
