Winners picked for £875m schools framework

Seven contractors have been appointed to the Education Funding Agency regional framework in the North West.

Bam Construction, Bowmer & Kirkland, Conlon Construction, Eric Wright, Galliford Try, Kier and Shepherd are understood to have been successful. The Department for Education said that official confirmation would follow the completion of the standstill period which ends next week.

The total value of the regional framework across the country is £5bn, divided into six regional lots of between £500m and £1.5bn. The procurement vehicle will cover smaller school building and refurbishment projects with the value typically in the region of £3m and £7m.

The procurement process began in October 2013, with the intention of spreading work amongst a range of firms of varying sizes.

The framework is expected to start on Monday 7 July 2014.
